Ambitious emerging writers who are seeking to break into the world of crime fiction should always be keen to learn (as, might I humbly suggest, should those of us who are more experienced as well!) and that means eagerly pouncing on interviews with those who work in the industry, particularly those whose job is to sign up new talent.
One such interview has just appeared, featuring some of the team at Joffe Books, the company that publishes my books. The interview with some of the team at Joffe and its imprint Choc Lit, includes a discussion about what persuades them to keep reading when confronted with a new author in fields including cosy crime, thrillers and romance.
The strong message that comes over loud and clear is that in a competitive world when each of them is snowed under with submissions, the manuscripts that have a chance of being accepted are the ones that ‘hook’ the team right from the first lines. It’s fascinating stuff and well worth a read. You can find the full article at
