Young readers are never far from the minds of the team that puts together the annual Kirkcudbright Book Festival, which opens this year with World Book Day on Thursday March 5, 2026.
The international celebration of books and reading always features prominently during the festival in the Dumfries and Galloway town and, this year, will be marked by free performances for local nursery age and primary school children at the town’s library in Daar Road by popular children’s authors Jayne Baldwin and Alan McClure.
