Festival details announced

Details have been announced for a couple one of Scotland’s major literary festivals.

Borders Book Festival began in June 2004, when Alistair Moffat had the idea of creating a small literary gathering in Melrose and was joined by Paula Ogilvie for an event that welcomed a handful of speakers and an audience of about 400.

Today, it has grown into one of the UK’s leading book festivals, attracting around 40,000 visitors each year for four days of ideas, entertainment and conversation.

This year’s festival will take place on June 11-14 with appearances including Gordon Brown, Eve Muirhead and Stuart Maconie.
