Appeal to provide books for children

I am delighted to help promote the Scottish Book Trust’s Christmas appeal to donate books to families.

According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, more than a million people in Scotland are living in poverty, a quarter of them children. These children are almost 50% less likely to own a book than their peers.

The Trust says that, for many families, the only books they have at home are ones donated by the organisation.

It works with food banks, local councils, other charities, children’s hospitals and community hubs to help distribute thousands of books.
